Installed the new struts, now the left front won't pump up. I've changed the solenoid, height sensor, checked for power to solenoid, etc. Everything seems to be O.K.. Did the soapy water deal around the air line to the solenoid, just a few small bubbles. The one thing is the actuator. As I stated in the other post the wires were broken off. Is the actuator necessary to pump up the bag. The right side is fine. Also, is it O.K. to trim the air line for a better fit?

what year car? did you do back struts too? the actuator is only part of the system that controls the dual damping system of the struts, which automatically switches the struts between the firm and soft modes. do you hear the pump run? is the height sensor link attached to the stud on the left side? also where did youget the struts from? not that is has to do with the problem. but i know there was something about the aftemarket ones not having the damping system on them.

The actuator only affects the firmness or response time of the valves inside the strut.
I would remove the solenoid from the bag and see if it is activating or it possibly even could be plugged.
Keep the wires and the airline attached to it the solenoid, turn the key on, if everything is working fine, you should get air out of the outlet.

TC and Steve, car is a 92 exec, parts from strutmaters, Front only, pump runs. I took the solenoid from the left side and switched it with the right side, same problem. Right now I have disconnected the sensor links so I dont hurt the bags with the car in the air. I can control the air pressure with the sensor. When I move the sensor arm, the compressor comes on, but will not fill the bag. I have noticed some small air bubbles around the airline, but I read in a previous post that it is normal because of the design.

Finally!!! Everything was good as far as parts go, however found a broken wire on the solenoid plug. I'm sure this isn't the only car this has happened to. Before you change out the solenoids be sure to check the wiring. My power wire was good it was the other one, I'm guessing the ground wire. On the left side the colors are green w/ red stripe and a white wire. The green wire is the power wire the other wire has no power going to it.

If you replace the o-rings in the valve assembly hose fitting, you won't get any bubbles.
