You already heard the news, but read the comment on Jalopnik's blog at the end.
The 360Hp Direct Injected Twin Turbo V6 based on the D35 was already approved to production with packaging for MKS.
If they made the 3.5L ready to go with direct injection and two turbos...screw the V8, the MKS will be an Audi killer.

Lincoln does need V8s because most of their drivers would lose a race from a stoplight to a Fiat Cinquecento loaded down with 5 people and towing a motorhome.
Seriously, these old folks go 0-30 in about 2 minutes. Why bother with all the extra frills? Lincoln should throw in a free casket with every purchase.

Isn't Direct Injection a diesel technology?? Also, I see more twin-turbos on diesels. . . Aaand there's a renewed call for diesel power, what with the better emissions standards and the price of diesel fuel is less than premium again. D-C AG is bringing diesel over for their Jeeps, and the Benz E-CLass has that hot engine of theirs. There's demand again. :dunno:

I want a diesel car. I'd buy one if F made them. Does anyone know if VW has plans to offer a "fuel of the devil" version of the Rabbit in N. America?

Hi Wolfe_83Conti
I think it was Mitsubishi that perfected gasoline direct injection.

So far, VW is only sending gas burner bunnies to the US, but I'll bet a TDI Rabbit comes along soon after release. But I'd prefer a M-B E320 Bluetec diesel meself. An oil burner with style!
In the meantime, have a :fluffy: !

Have seen Ford talk big and walk small too many times. Once the accountants and attorneys get their say so, we will see a stock 3.5L Duratec under the hood.

If they do put in the stock 3.5 L Duratec, it will be a HUGE dissapointment and flop...

I think the 3.7L is going in no matter what. It will have direct injection and 300hp. Compared to everything else you can buy for $40,000+, it will be mediocre at best. The turbo is the only way to ante up here.
If they do an about-face and put the 3.5L in, all that talk of Lincolns becoming more unique was for nothing.
