gotta 93 Continental. cranked right up this morning and drove to work... when I went on lunch it wouldnt start, dash said CHECK DCL . the guys @ the lincoln dealership said one of the sensors is going bad, and this piece was no longer being made and can be found in the junkyard or ebay etc.... so can anyone tell me what it is I need to fix this problem

check dcl error is caused by a bad connection 99% of the time..

here is a tuneup procedure that helps in most cases

if that dont do it, there is a more involved procedure that involves soldering on the Instrument panel CPU boards.. not for the inexperienced, but if your up to it, I can give basic directions for that, or for the cost of shipping I can do it for you.

Oh, and them stealership guys just dont want to work on an older lincoln, thats why they told you that.. the DCL is the communications link between the dash computer(s) and the engine computer.. no sensors are involved!

If you like keeping your wallet fat, you'll avoid the dealer's service department like the plague. They just seem to not care about fixing older Lincolns, unless they can find something really wrong with it. :)

i was wondering the same thing kendo. i have had the dcl thing happen but my car started. hmm... answers ??

ive had the dcl thing going on for 2 years.......im lazy,i get tired of fixing cars,if i could get ,i would get a new cluster.....ill bet if my name was tom cruise,ford would be calling me up on the phone and sending the over to install it

i am having the same problem with my DCL in my 94 except it does start..
Occasionally this happens:

1. Dcl warning beeps and all of right screen ------ doesnt read

2. Oil pressure warning beeps

3. Check engine warning

4. Speedometer goes out


Does anyone have a clue whats going on?
