It seems like the Continental isn't picking up quite its best. I have a 95 Continental and it always seemed dead on againsts the Mark VIII. Although the newest i raced was a 96, not to sure about any changed other than body style.

that conti was only 260HP, IIRC while the 97 Mark is at 290HP

Conti's have quicker gears...so they run out of steam above 50-ish mph. Thanks for sharing that, that was cool. :)

actually conti sucks at its off the line power but after 25ish, it really gets going. Both of the cars are in tip-top shape.
BTW you have beaten mark VIIIs before? how many and which year?

It was when I just bought mine back on 2000. It had 72,000 miles on it but the motor and transmission were less than 5,000 on it. I drove my friend to a used car lot for him to test drive a 95 Mark VIII. They let him take the car off by himself, so we went to the neighborhood behind the dealership and went at it. Even though the Continentals transmissions may seem brand new and act like it is, it always seemd that from riding in others people Continentals and test driving them that first gear never seemed to pick up as good as it did when its new. By the way my transmission is shot now and has been for about 3 years, and it was from racing it to much. Now my 0-60 is probally around a minute. Whenever I get the money I will get it rebuilt or I have been seriously thinking about spending a little extra and getting a jasper transmission. I have a question for the experts, does the motor and tranny have to come out as a assembley or can they just tame out the transmission. And also what has to come out to get the transmission out.

i know im not racing my contie any more the trany is 2 years old with 46k on it
and i am gona get a new motor well used but new for me with like under 80k tourds the end of the year and im never racing it agen not gona mess it up agen
