hey pro
do you think i should keep the essex machine? after fixing the water pump and motor mount on sat .... more problems. i think it may be the tire rod or somethng. the left front wheel wont turn when you go straight ahead or if you turn left. but you can go to the right in a circle ....but i would never make it home :) yeah i guess imgoing keep it . later guys.

Sounds like a tie-rod or maybe the rack itself. Sheesh, that's no fun. :(

ok i just got home from fixing the car in a parking lot. TIE ROD end.
snapped right at the rack. i was driving home yesterday and i thought the tire blew out. yup the wheel was pointing inwards.
so today labor day found a parts store that was open. parts was only $30 for inner and outer. some famliy is telling me gete rid of the car . they dont understand... even i dont ... theres something about the car.

The reason I am now a member of this forum and the happy owner of a 2002 Conti was that I have a 1990 Olds 98, that was doing the same as your 89 Conti. It was one thing after another, and I just kept fixing and fixing and fixing. Then finally after 2 window motors gave out and no air conditioner here in Southern California, push came to shove and I had to get a new car....I just couldn't make it here in LA without open windows or an AC...
I am not a mechanic so I looked and looked and looked at a lot of options. I originally was looking at a Grand Marquis, but I just couldn't get the grandpa & grandma or cop image out of my mind... and then I found my Conti:) :) :)
It's NO fun keeping an older car that is continual problems. I still have the Olds, and this winter it will be driven because mechanically it's a great car and still in very good clean condition...
I don't know your situation, but maybe you can end up making lemonade out of lemons like it happened for me....good luck!

Or he could fix his $%^&* Town Car and have a reliable cruiser vehicle. Well, not many 250K vehicles are reliable so just use it for parts and get another TC! :D
