How's everyone doing?
-90 linc. Cont. I have been having problems with this car lately. Now it's my electrical's turn to act up. -long story short:I tried to start the car and had nothing (no clock, no lights,no radio,no clicks, no buzz,no sparks, you get the pic=like a car w/o a battery). After...maybe a good 15 secs. ...........BAM! Power's back on. And here's the weird part, my trunk opened!!......??? .....I am not kidding!!!!
Does anybody know what could've caused this? All inputs will be greatly appreciated. Also, I had it converted(struts) to regular struts. What's the easiest way to get rid of the RIDE CONTROL message on the dashboard? Thanks again.

Welcome Radster! Pull up a chair and stay awhile!
Could be a fusible link. I had one go in my 89 Townie. The car died at 60 mph...nothing electrical was working at all, in the middle of the night! As I coasted to the shoulder, everything fired back up.
About 10 minutes later, in the Walmart parking lot, it died again, and did not come back on. Was $110 IIRC for the fix, including towing.

Remove the access panel below the steering column and maybe the lower half of the column shroud, look at the 4 big yellow wires going to the ignition switch. Odds are they are brown from being cooked. If so there is a harness repair kit and you'll need a new ignition switch.

BING! Right on the money. You need a new ignition switch.

Ok, open the trunk, wwith the trunk open look on your left hand side of the trunk wall. Right next to where the fuel inertia cut-off switch is you'll see what looks to be an EEC-IV connector. This is the Air Ride computer dedicated diagnostic plug. CUT the Green wire on the wiring harness leading up to the plug, strip off about 1/2 inch of the insulation, loop it, and attatch it to the nearest screw sticking out of the body sheet metal behind the carpet. This will turn off the ride control light.

When this all is tried check your battery cable connection and the cable its self, you could have corrosion in the cable up to 4-6 inches under the insulating covering its self. wiggle the cable and check if your lights brighten/dim and if other anomolies happen.
then check your ground connection.

he will need the computer if he has only done a 2 wheel conversion, or some other modification to the a/s that still needs the computer to work. so the cut wire and ground route is the best to go. not to mention the a/s computer controls the shock damping (if you still have that avail with your conversion).

he did not mention 4 or 2 wheel conversion,so we can only assume its 4 wheel like mine
