Welcome Claudio and congrats on the Lincoln. They are great cars, and you've found the place to figure out what to do when they have their bad days.

Just a few words; maintenance, maintenance, and more maintenance. Accelerate the maintenance schedules, change oils, transmission fluids, brake, and steering fluids often. These Town Cars will last many, many years and give many troublefree driving miles. The folks here consider my 1997 TC with 112K miles just broken in. Many here have Town Cars with 200K plus miles, and only minor repairs needed.

Good luck, and share some stories here with your LOL buddies.

I will keep up with the maintance, hopefully it gives me a trouble free experience because my dad wasnt so happy i came with a 89,000 1999 licoln, i would say he is a fanboy for toyota and all those japaneese manufactures that anything american he tells me it sucks. But i will proove him wrong, his toyota lancruiser already had the transmission blow or something blew up at 140k so i hope mine lasts more then his.

anyone else i can become familiar with give an intro of yourself and what you think of my car thanks.

I added the double sided myself...you can find chrome stars on ebay for about $10...You will need to do some modification to the ornament itself to make it work, but it’s not very hard.

Well congrats on the new car and on finding the site. One trouble spot to look into is the plastic intake manifold. Do a search here for it and you will find pictures of the old style and the new style. You will want to fix this ASAP. Other than that, enjoy. As for mileage, 89k is nothing. I bought my 94 with 122k and am now at 213k and still running strong. I did have to put a transmission in mine at 145k but that is because the previous owner never had the trans fluid or filter changed. It is now a 15k-20k mile ritual on my 100k mile junkyard transmission. Welcome and good luck with the car. Oh, and don't think we are all old farts around here. I am 22 and my brother who currently has 3 Lincolns is 17 also. He has an 88 Mark VII, a 90 Mark VII, and a 91 Towncar.;)

welcome to Lincolnsonline. Town cars are really really great cars. Just have the maintenance done on these cars and the are good to go. Do your oil change now and see if the tranny fluid has been changed. If it has a burnt smell to it, you need to change your tranny fluid.
BTW about the hood ornament, would you be able to use hot glue?

Welcome! You're gonna love the car. Make sure to read up on the intake manifold...that the only big problem with these cars. The rear air springs might start leaking on you too, but don't worry about that unless the rear end starts to sag when you let it sit overnight.

You guys need to bite the bullet and drill a hole in the chrome hat for the hood ornament...its only one hole and looks factory once you're done.

Welcome-
And enjoy the ride. You'll find on the highway, your car will do very well on gas...I average about 26 mpg. In the city it drops to 20-22 depending if I stomp on it or not. I average overall about 22.5-24 with regular fuel.

The ride is wonderful and your friends/family riding will thank you on a long trip!!!!

The one thing I have found very helpful, keep the plastic bumper in the front and the hood well waxed to keep bugs from beating it up too bad. Had a horrible time getting the bugs off with no wax on the front, fo now I do the bumper about every two weeks. Then the car is easier to maintain!!!

My Town Car had 92,000 on it when I bought it 48 months ago. Even though I was 27 I could still hear my father's stories in the back of my head about the car being all worn out already.

To make a long story short I have driven it 100,000 miles now and I have no immediate plans to replace it.

This is a semi-sore subject with me, and getting sorer. I'm a nut about regular maintenance on my 2004 Sig, but I'm using the maintenance guide's 5,000 interval schedule. Should I go back to the old-fashioned 3,000? Got 40K on it now, and it runs like a Singer sewing machine. What do y'all think?

By the way, congrats Claudio. Think you'll be really happy with one of the last of a dying breed.
