View Full Version : 95-97 Conti Rear Light Bulbs Not Replacable?

The message center is telling me I've got a rear brake light out and it's one of the inboard ones that's part of the big light bar. The service manual says the bulb is not servicable and the entire light bar has to be replaced? Has anyone had this problem?

no the entire bar doesn't have to be replaced. I have done it but don't remember the number of the bulbs. BTW you do mean the one on the trunk in the center?

That makes no sense, maybe the service manual was printed when Lincoln wanted a neon taillight for these cars...the bar unbolts from the trunk and you can replace its bulbs from there.

Only 1997-98 Mark VIIIs have the non-fixable neon bar.

Thanks, I'll give that a try! It's not the first mistake I've ever seen in a shop manual...

I'd replace every darn bulb on the panel while it's removed. Your time is worth more than the price of the extra bulbs :)
