Tell us what codes he gets. The IAC valve probably needs replacement...its too far gone to be cleaned.

Damn, so close, my money is on either a vacuum leak or that idle valve is bad.

So how much money have you spent on this car? Well its less than a new car payment tho right?! :)

You know your stuff man, let's hope your mechanic knows better than to mess with ya. ;)

if it doesn't throw any codes, I still say the IAC is bad.

Usually not even worth the effort in cleaning them just to find out it didnt help. Tried to clean mine and ruined it!

Its worth it on a V6 Conti or a 5.0...but yeah, I cleaned the one on my former 4.6L town car, spend an hour removing crap to get to it, and two weeks later had to do it all over again to put a new one in. Sheesh.

Good job Ken, you know your stuff. :)

some of the 3.8 IAC's are not cleanable... but for the low cost, its almost worth just a 'shotgun' it and toss in a new one.
