I am usually a very slow driver. I think my last speeding ticket was nearly 20 years ago.

But last night coming home from work the freeway for once was fairly open (a rather odd occurance here in Los Angeles) And before you know it, I was up to 90 and then 95. I had to double check the speedodmeter.

I couldn't believe how smooth, quite and responsive my new 02 Conti was cruisin down the highway. Well, I know some of you young guys would have punched her up to over 100, but once she hit 95, I eased her back down to a reasonable 80 - 85.

She travels easily at 80 plus and here in LA that seems to be the average for lots of folks. In fact, I hardly even push my baby to get her up to 80, just a light touch on the pedal and there she goes.

Gotta admit, now I am curious to see how she will feel at 100+. But I need to get out of LA to do that, where, I can find some open road.

But at 95, she didn't whine, groan or complain. She was as quite and as smooth as a baby sleepin and it felt great!

Yeh--these cars really are a pleasure to drive.

That's some of the refinement you get with a Lincoln. They are usually quite stable at higher speeds.

I mainly bought her at first because of the looks, the luxury and the comfort. But now, I think I need to try her out for the speed too!

Just gotta find some open road and the usual freeways I travel here, can in no way be described as open road.

I know what you mean! I am a slow driver, too... I go the speed limit up to maybe 5 over but thats IT. I was driving my Continental to a job interview near downtown Pittsburgh. It's about a 40 minute drive but traffic wasn't too heavy. I found myself cruising along at 90 without even noticing it! If I hadn't looked down, I know I would've kept accelerating. It's so easy! I am going to have to keep an eye on it, but man it was SMOOTH!

I've spent a lot of time cruising I-80 between PA and NYC. I'm a nine-mph-above-posted-speed kind of guy, but it's easy to let the speedometer creep up to the mid-80s. When my wife falls asleep in the passenger seat, she says she often dreams that she's flying, and comments that she never did that in other cars.

Passing slow-moving trucks, etc. on the two-lane highways around here can be a rush too, with all those horses under the hood...
