View Full Version : Locking lug nuts

Does anyone know if the lug nuts on the later Continentals are the same spec as the Mark VIII? The wheels are interchangeable, so I figured they would be the same. Anyway, I have the wheel lock set from a crashed '97 Mark I parted out for a friend, and want to use it on the Continental if they're the same spec, don't want to buy something that's already laying around the house, ya know. But not gonna touch it until I know for sure. Thanks in advance :)

One thing I'm noticing between the two cars is ride quality. They both have a slightly European feel to them, but the Continental shines when it comes to bumps and potholes. Of course the Mark shines in handleablility and turning radius...lol. It was supposed to be light years ahead of the larger Lincolns, guess it is...lol

When I turn into a parking space with the Continental, it's not as tight as a turn as with the Mark, and the Mark is a longer wheelbase measurement, go figure. Will take some getting used to switching back and forth between sport coupe and geezer pleaser...heh! I'm almost a geezer, I can say that :)

The Conti is also FWD verses the Mark's RWD - because a FWD's steering-wheels are attatched to the drive shafts they (usually) cannot turn as far as a RWD - Fender/Control arm clearence are another factor as well.

that makes great sense, just never thought about the mechanics of FWD like that. The Mark seemed like a sled until I got used to the extra nose length of it, now I can put it in a very tight parking space these days. I know my parameters in that car :)

Went on my first freeway drive in the Continental yesterday, my lord what a beautiful ride. No wallow at all, but sooooo silky. I have a friend with a 2002 DeVille, bought new, low miles, and driving that thing compared to the Continental, the Lincoln wins hands down. Nicer feel, doesn't even have detectable torque steer under normal acceleration. But then even the Mark was a preferable experience next to his DeVille.
