The car alarm keeps going off for no apparant reason. Seems to only happen when it is hot outside. I don't hit the power lock button anymore to avoid activating the alarm. Any ideas on how to fix this issue so I can use the power locks?
Thanks

Disconnect the hood sensor (its a plunger mounted on one of the fenders) and see if that fixes the problem. Also clean your door switches using this:

+1 I went through hell until I disconnected that hood pin sensor by the junction box on by the fender on the drivers side.

Funny!
You know a while back when I was under the hood I saw this plug that was disconnected, and yes you guessed it, of course I plugged it in. I guess the previous owner had the same issue. I think I'll go back and unplug it.
Thanks for your help.:)

  Ha, were glad to help. Mine went b/c somebody was wondering what would happen if they pressed it 100 times, sure enough the alarm went off.

You know it would be cool if it was possible to activate the alarm manually without the horn blowing. The car would look like a police car with the lights flashing.:cop:

Yea, that would be a sight! Dont they flash in a wig wag (alternating) pattern too? :D

Ya, I think they do. At the time the alarm is going off I'm more concerned about getting it to shut off than enjoy the light show. I'll have to try it sometime when i'm in the middle of nowhere.

Try shooting some WD-40 down the plunger (remove the rubber boot if needed) and then some silicone lubricant afterwards. That fixes other contact switches on these cars, it might work here too and be a free fix.
Free fixes are great. :)

My car's alarm used to do this. It was happening because the car thought a door was open even when it was closed. Fixing the door ajar message solved the problem.
This might be worth looking at:
