Killing it was incredibly stupid, Ford makes 10K on every one out the door. Getting rid of Bill was a goood thing. :D

No arguement here, but doesn't he still hold a powerful position on the board or something?

RC

The whole point was to get him out of operations, he's been kicked "upstairs". :)

A fair trade; Get rid of William Ford, keep the "flagship icon" Town Car. Maybe Ford is going forward with Bold Moves in the right direction?

You beat me to it!

I'm so happy that there's still a "real" Lincoln available I'm gonna make it a forum announcement! :p

Not sure if it made a difference, but I wrote a few blurbs on the "Bold Moves" community buzz site about the demise of the Town Car last week. Maybe somebody took them to heart.

The St Thomas plant has been making the Crown Vic since like 1985 or something, so it makes logical sense to have all the Panther lines cranked out of the same facility.

The reason the are moving it to St. Thomas is because the CV and MGM are being made there already, it would only make sense to assemble the TC there instead retooling another plant to handle the Town Car.

Maybe they where looking for the younger age groupmeaning us "young guys" that like town cars. Me and my friend are the only ones in our school with town cars but that is cool because we show class while others are diving their civics and there trucks we ride with class and boy do we attract attention now everyone i know wants a lincoln TC. well not everyone maybe like 10 or more. The reason people like town cars so much is that i never see them around anywhere, Serious. I always drive waiting to spot the next town car and it always takes a while but there is some.

I had the same situation in High school, Me and my best friend both had TCs, we rolled up in a convoy like we owned the joint, they were/are always clean and shiny and we had air horns so everyone knew we were coming. And of course at the end of the day we'd do the same thing, like a little mafia. I love these cars, and yes Body on frame IS WAY better than monocoque or whatever.

Norfolk production will move to our Dearborn Truck Plant, where we will add a third crew, beginning in 2007. And, to meet ongoing demand, we intend to move production of the Lincoln Town Car to our St. Thomas Assembly Plant, following the end of production at Wixom next year.

Well, I'm glad that we can still buy the town car :) . However, I'd love to see more premium options on it to justify the higher prices (at the local FLM dealer, a 07 Designer was 50,184.00). But, at least they will keep on making replacement parts,:) some of which still fit the old ones like mine.
Thanks, Dave.

Hey, I call it like I see it. I can't BELIEVE how sucky those new seats are. Then again, ask Rhett...he's not a fan of his 2004's seats.

Now the only question is do you want a 2007 built by a bunch of PO'd people who are about to be fired or a 2008 built by a bunch of n00bs in Canada? :D

I don't think people making Crown Vics for years (decades in many cases) should be considered Town Car noobs. :p

Kind of puts the US automakers in a dilema - you have to get quality up and have better products while most of your workforce is worried about their jobs.

Sure they may be uncomfortable but you’re overlooking the main issue…. they look so damn purdy.

I have it down to a science…just recline it a bit, tilt it back a bit, and deflate the lumbar completely and your set.

The seats are however perfect as is for people with spines who curve outward.

Well, AZ, you must be 5' 8" and 110 lbs! I'm 6' 8", 250. I've tried every position possible, with only minimal success. The seat bottoms need to be more padded and longer, and frankly the seats need to be lower. All that gadgetry under the seat takes up valuable headroom. Also, the seat backs need to be more "wraparound" for a more snug fit--less sliding when you're cornering or turning, which flexes leg and back muscles, causing them to ache and burn.

There's a local company here in town that specializes in leather repair, but apparently they do seat modifications. Been thinking about trying them out.

That's what I did too...and it helped. Then I sat in my Aunt's 1988 Signature Series and well, I was pissed at what the last regime (Nasser) did to the Town Car. I did nothing and was supremely comfortable...never could get that comfy in a 1998+ model.

What’s sad is your pretty close. I’m however 6ft, but still flag pole dimensions nonetheless. ;)

I was only having issues with lower back support…the seat bottoms etc don’t bother me all that much.

The Town Car seats take a while to adjust, I have been driving my Town Car for 4 months, and just now got the perfect adjustment. I am 6'4 180lbs, and need to have the right seating position for driving. I do not move the seat back that far, becasue I am thin, however the seat has to be low for the extra headroom, and the seat needs to be tilted back for thigh support. The seat back does not need to be reclined that far. The Town Car has pretty comfy seats, I could drive the car for hours and not have my wallet dig into my ass cheek. My other car I have to move my wallet to my front pocket.

Finally, mark down ONE good move by Ford management. Against all the other stupid car model moves/marketing:
-one year Blackwood
-underpowered Marauder
-unmarketed LS
