My previous 98 Continental had 2 remotes - 1 with Memory 1 recall and the other with Memory 2 recall. On the dash I did NOT have the Driver ID button - had the E/M instead.

I recently purchased an 02 Contintal that DOES have the Driver ID button on the dash; however the dealer gave me 2 remotes without the memory recall switch. From the manuals, I can't determine what I should have but I do see references to the Memory recall switches on the remote. I'm inclined to think I did not get the remotes that were issued with the vehicle when it was new. Is that correct?

Correct, you did not get the right transmittor.

I have the correct transmittor, at least one of them I think. If you're interested, shoot me a PM.

I found this in the 2002 conti manual if it helps

Programming—Keyless Entry Remote Transmitter

NOTE: The driver door module (DDM) will erase all previously stored keyless entry remote transmitters when a new transmitter is programmed. If adding an additional transmitter, the existing transmitters stored in memory must be programmed at the same time.

NOTE: On the eighth cycle the key must end in the ON position.
Cycle the ignition switch eight times from OFF to ON with in 10 seconds.
After the doors lock then unlock press any button on the transmitter to be programmed.
The doors will lock and unlock to confirm programming.
If additional transmitters are to be programmed, program each transmitter within 7.5 seconds of the last transmitter.
After the last transmitter is programmed, turn the ignition switch to OFF. The door locks will lock then unlock and the horn will sound to confirm programming.
After all transmitters are programmed:
A new keyless entry keypad code can be programmed within 7.5 seconds of the last transmitter.
Press keyless entry keypad buttons 7/8 and 9/0 at the same time to exit the program mode.
Wait for 7.5 seconds; the DDM will exit the program mode automatically.

Thanks for the offer. I have an extra "memory 1" recall remote. I would like to get the "memory 2" at some point. What's a "PM"?

Nevermind about the PM...let me look and see if the one I have is a Memory 2. I'll post back in a couple days at the latest.

I have a Memory 2 transmittor, dark grey in color. It has the switch on the back too. This was for our 1999 Conti, we lost it, but found it again a few years later after the lease ended. It looks brand new.

Part number: F80B-15K601-BA

If you want it, how's $25 shipped to you?
