And my "racing" engine is back so I am thinking that the IAC is bad and should be replaced? Any other ideas?

The car is basically idling very high sometimes, until I restart it and then it resets. I checked the EGR and it was fine. Seems like a lot of people are having this issue! 1987 Continental....

also does anyone know where I can get a master window control? I need the bezel. Mine is all beat up and makes my car look like poop...

I think you are correct about the IAC needing replaced.
have you cleaned the carbon from the passages yet?

As far as running rough at times until you restart the car.
Have you pulled any codes? I am sure it all stems back to the IAC

Last question I can only say No. to the first part and have you checked ebay and/or the classifieds here in LoL? to the second part.

Put a code scanner on the system before you buy an IAC. You must check for engine codes first!

Its either the IAC valve or the TPS sensor.

i am going to buy a code reader. i went ahead and replaced the icv this AM and I couldnt get the car to do the racing thing again but it was intermittent to begin with...............these cars are really tough and relatively cheap to keep running but sometimes they drive me crazy! we know how well they can run and how smooth they can be so when they arent its frustrating~!

Get a newer Lincoln that isn't based on a Ford Fairmont chassis...then you will understand pain. :)

If you haven't already, get the Ford shop manual and EVTM manual. If you're near the west side of town I might be able to hook ya up in the future.

What year Conti is this anyway? The idle control system on an 86-87 is totally different than the system on the CFI models.

Everything I have on EEC-IV says that Code 11 is a pass on the total system, and that there's nothing wrong. EGR is usually something like a Code 34.
