Maybe Ford is not as lame as many of you seem to think:
NEWS ALERT
from The Wall Street Journal
Oct. 3, 2006
GM reported a 3.1% decline in September U.S. light vehicle sales, while Toyota sales surged. GM's tepid report comes as the auto maker's board held a monthly meeting at which it was expected to discuss the proposed GM-Nissan-Renault alliance. Earlier, Ford reported a 4.7% gain on strong demand for its cars following seven straight monthly declines, while Chrysler Group's sales fell 3.8%.

Well, I don't really have anything against DC, but I've always had this secret fantasy that GM would bite it (all deference to American jobs). I just don't care for their product. Been in a Silverado lately? Yeah, it rides good, but you look around the cabin and everything's PLASTIC, PLASTIC, PLASTIC. It looks like something's just waiting to crack, snap off or just plain break. Plus, too many lights, buttons and whis-bang features that also look fragile. Like the room in the Buick Lucerne, but it's the same way--fragile looking.

You can check this out, too. Not bad for FoMoCo. Maybe Henry ISN'T spinning in his grave after all...

Silverado? Heck, been in an Escalade or any Cadillac for that matter lately... plastic, plastic, plastic everywhere. And not the nice looking, textured and soft touch plastic; the cheap recycled milk jug plastic with different parts all having slightly different color and texture. Looks like they really missed the boat on this and have given up the ship when it comes to interiors. GM could really learn something from the new Lincoln Zephyr interior (did I actually say something nice about the Zephyr?).

Funny I have both a 06 Silverado and a 06 Zephyr, the Zephyr's interior blows away the Silverado. GM trucks have pretty crappy interiors and waaaaay too many buttons (the 07's look a little better)
but mechanically, especially the drivetrain and suspension, they are ahead of Dodge, Ford and the Tundra is too expensive and the 07's look like garbage.

I agree, bud. Even though I could never own a Zephyr/MKZ because I'm too tall, it is extremely refined and well-tooled on the inside and out. Maybe outsourcing to Mexico/Canada is not such a bad idea. I expect the MKS (probably wishful thinking) to have the same refinement. Time will tell.

Driven a Seville STS lately? I did. No complaints about the interior, and I comp'ed it to a Mercedes. I'm more disappointed in the FoMoCo lines. (Edit: Before anyone attempts to jump down my throat, I do not consider the Escalade range as Cadillacs. They're Chevys, and no amount of rebadging will cover that up. The cars are flying ahead of the trucks, as they should be.)
