LINCSTER

Hey there....this is Lincster in Vegas. I have more adventures with Christine, no she's not some cheap crack ho......... she's a devilish '86 Continental. This adventure had it's problems but now all is solved, so it's just a (hopefully) entertaining tale. Remember last month when I fixed the starter problems, replaced starter, solinoid, ign switch. Well a few days after making all the repairs when I turned the ign key the starter would start and then for a few seconds a loud metal grinding noise could be heard. O.K. now I'm thinking maybe the flywheel broke, little teeth rattling about. No big deal and then for something completely different I SMELL GAS. Open the hood look at the fuel injectors notice the NO. 1 injector is leaking like a sieve. So I replace that leaker plus all the o-rings for the rest of the injectors, now to do this requires removal of the intake plenum, so when I try to replace all those narly tubes/hoses....... hey where does this one go. Oh man is it that late? I got to play poker....eehhhh I finish this later. Crap should have draw pictures oh well only missin' a hose or 2. So when I start the old girl up she's a buckin' and shakin' & farting out black smoke. Too much gas, so I drive it around a couple of mile, now it smells of burning plastic, crap I remember that one of the injector tip had a somewhat loose plastic cap, thoughts of melting plastic screwing up my head....cylinder head that is. The last resort..... the auto shop, at this point I just want it fixed pride be damned. Terry my mechanic repaired all the problems. The starter had to be replaced the cheapie reman from AZ was defective, grinding it's teeth on the flywheel. Black smoke was cause by a hose not connected at the firewall. Some little sensor on the firewall if it's not hooked up to the intake the engine just runs at full richness/wot. As for the little plastic cap Terry says forget about it, it should just pass through the engine no problem. Christine is now clean and has given up smoking. So the moral of the story be this....don't rush write/draw info....it really comes in handy & don't buy cheap reman crap go for the good stuff ( off the record mechanic man recommends napa) Cruise On!
