I have a 87 Continental with a brake problem. The pedal will go almost to the floor but the car does not stop properly. After a few seconds I can feel the calipers make contact with rotors and the car will stop. At that time the abs warning will come on. I have bled the brakes several times and have new rotors, pads and calipers. There seems to be a problem with the hydraulic unit and they are extremely expensive. Does anyone know where to find rebuilt kits for these things.

Thanks again.

Sounds lots of air still in the system. does your system have a vacuum brake booster or no. If not, pump the pedal about 50 times to get rid of the fluid/air in the accumulator, that oil filter looking thing on the sidelof the master cyl assembly. Now bleed your brakes again without turning the ignition key ON.

Definitely flush the system as said above. Also check out the Mark VII tech article on the ABS system in the TECH section.

Thanks to you guys and the tech article, I have determined the accumulator is the problem. Does anyone know where I can find one. It has been discontinued at the dealer.

Thanks again,
