That's right, the MKX hasn't hit the showrooms yet but I got my hands on one.

Initial impressions: great styling inside and out! The 3.5L V6 is a HUGE improvement over the Zephyr's 3.0L: its smoother, has more torque and pulls harder to redline. That panaromic roof is a great option; its like having a droptop! The AWD system lets you floor it in a turn with no drama, the handling is good enough and the ride/comfort is pretty impressive.
Pros:
Nice woodgrain, chrome accents and plastics everywhere they need to be (where you can touch them)
Door panels have actual stitching on the padded armrest! Shades of the GEN II Mark VIII right there.
A/C seats, THX audio are great options to consider
Good power
Decent handling
MP3 player hookup in the console!
Good ride
Plenty of storage space (especially when you fold the front passenger seat down)
Cool looking stance with 18" wheels
Chrome grille looks retro cool, but really classy too
Panamromic roof is a great feature that I'd recommend
The headlights steer with the tires, or they supposedly do. (I drove it in the afternoon)The Cons:
Aside from A/C seats, steerable headlights, THX and wood trim, you can have the same thing in a Ford Edge for $8000 less.
There was a little road noise from the rear. Not sure if it was bad enough to really complain about.
Most of the sheetmetal is "borrowed" from the Ford Edge. Its gonna look cheap once the Edge hits the streets in large amounts.
The Edge offers the same suspension, ride, engine and transmission. The more I learn about the Edge, the more the MKX starts to feel badge engineered. Bummer. :(I really liked the MKX, but even a Lincoln nut like me finds himself wondering if its worth buying over the Edge. The Edge is a great machine, impressing a lot of people with its credentials.
I was hoping for a Mark VIII vs. Thunderbird level of differentiation. It isn't there. They are just too similar for my tastes.
