Ok.... The speedometer works while the car is moving, but when you have it stopped at a light, or in accessory with the car not running, or just open the door and have the digital cluster illuminate, the car's speedometer displays random speed's, (today I was going 85mph at the stop light) The real bad thing is that it is putting miles on the odometer at the same time..... but it display's the correct speed of your going over 15 Mph

Does it continue if you put the car in neutral?

Hmm...I would have your alternator checked out. Something is either wrong with your charging system or the speedometer has a bad ground.

It acts up randomly,

But... how could it be the alternator if it does it and the car is not running, as "key on, engine off"

I tried regrounding the dash ground, the big orange wire, it seemed to help.

Ill try the nuetral thing.

My 1983 Continental did it too, I think it was the battery or the starter solenoid. It happened about 15 years ago so I've forgotten the exact problem...but I'd check the charging system if I were you.
