I have an 89 Town car and I have a coolant leak which appears to be coming from the top back driver’s side of the motor. I have not been able to locate the leak yet. I leaks down the back of the motor and drips off of the transmission. Any hint on where it may be leaking from?

sure sounds like a heater hose to me. they run back along the rear firewall area. not an unusual problem, especially with the colder weather now and heat being used and pressure now on these hoses.

Check the hoses that run from the lower intake to the E.G.R. plate. My 88 had a similar leak. It turned out to be the hose to the E.G.R. plate where it attached to the nipple on the top rear area of the lower intake. Over the years, the heat from the intake had caused it to crystalize and disintegrate. They can be a real bear to viualize at the lower end and even more fun to change.

Yeah, +1 egr cooler lines. They're 1/4" fuel hose, and pretty much never ever replaced. Easiest way to replace them is probably pull the upper intake. One end of it attaches to the pipe running under the passenger side of the upper manifold, and it comes around the back side of the engine up to the throttle plate. Almost impossible to get under there with it in place.
