I have a 87 continental that I changed heads and intake to the HO stuff. Now I dont know how to install the distributor. I read to get the #1 piston on the compression stroke and align the mark. What mark? There is a groove cut in the flywheel but I dont know. Also the tab used for timing, do you use the top or the place with the notch cut out.

Help

There is actually a mark on the balancer that says 0. You want the top edge of the pointer. This article might be of some help since it has pics of the pointer and the marks.

Unfortunately they're not clear enough to read because of my cheap camera, but if you actually look at the balancer, you'll find the marks in question. Line them up to the flat edge of the pointer and you're good.

We are half way there. My other problem is how to install the distributor back in the car?

Maybe I didn't explain well enough. The manual I have says to align the rotor with the #1 position on the distributor and align the stator a certain way and set the flywheel on the mark. Is this the '0' mark or the '10' mark? Now when I try to insert the distributor, it rotates. If everything stays aligned, is it ok?
