Once again this year, I will be registering the Lincoln Lunatics. If I call in with at least five registrants, we can be a "club" and get $5 off per. It's still $60 (Long Haul or just one leg) and well worth it.
Absolutely as soon as I have five of us (here and FvC) lined up, I'm pulling the trigger. After that, anyone calling in and claiming to be a Lincoln Lunatic gets the $5 off.
SO, whether you join now or later, here is the needed info...

Motels....
Last year I was happy to do the legwork and co-ordinate the motels. Right up until the last couple of days. That was when I learned that ALL of the rooms I had reserved, EVEN THOUGH someone had paid for them, were charged to my CC anyway. THANK YOU Super 8 and Day's Inn! It took me WAY too long and too many phone calls to correct this.
I'm sorry, but I'll not be co-ordinating motels this year.
PLUS...the Super 8's and Day's Inns really disappointed me last year. Too many rickety toilets, tubs that did not drain, carpets that even a half assed Coonass like myself would not walk barefoot on and towels as soft as mechanic's red rags.
AND, my lovely wife will Long Haul this year. Gotta upgrade a little :)
For anyone even considering joining us, I strongly suggest getting the motel reservations taken care of. We are talking about a LOT of people and the longer you wait the more scarce rooms will be. You can always cancel if you have to bail.
Again, If you have ANY questions, PM me.
See you in June.

Hi Armond!
I may combine these PT07 threads, we'll see how things go.
Might be kinda hard for everyone to stay together without knowing what hotel people are staying at. Just my .02

I dunno Fox, you'll be spending all day in your car. All night too might not be too appealing.
Motels: Armond, what we could do is just put together a master list of motels and post it here, then everyone can get their own reservations. Last year, I had no problem just going down that list you sent me and making all those reservations on my own, so if everyone does that then we don't need a single person to do a whole block of rooms. Thoughts, anyone?

For the last couple of legs in 2006, weren't we rolling around with like eight or nine Marks?
Wonder if we can break ten this year. Though I suspect, where the Tour is going, we don't have as many members as in the NE that we could draw from in 2006.

I think the Lincoln Lunatic Master Hotel List is a great idea! Post it up and let everyone handle reservations themselves!
Armond, part of the reason I did the PT in 2006 was the list of hotels you provided. Although I do not expect you to reserve a room for me, part of the fun was hangin' out with y'all.

I completely agree that a huge portion of the fun is hanging out together in the evening. I am certain we can still co-ordinate festivities, it wiil just take a little more doing.
I have my reservations locked down. My wife and I are staying at Marriott properties (Marriott, Courtyard, Residence Inn, Fairfield Inn). Last year, on the way back from NJ I stopped at the Courtyard in Bristol, TN. That was was when i learned I could get the govt rate. And the room was VERY nice. Thanks to a govt rate in most places and AAA combined with Marriott Rewards I'll not be spending -too- much more than if I were flying solo. Without the gvt, AAA and Marriott's Rewards it can get expensive, fast.
I think we could keep fairly close, even if not in the same motel. There is usually a motel/restaurant "district". If anyone wants the address of where my wife and are staying just PM me.

Sorry for the delay on the answer.
This is without a doubt the ultimate car person event. The ultimate roadtrip.
It's a seven day, seven city rolling car show with anywhere from 1500 to 3500 cars on any given day.
Do it once and you're ruined for life. Join us for just one leg and you'll start scheming on how to Long Haul the next year. Just ask anyone that's joined us.
Look at the top of the scscreen and click on the Power Tour.
Take special note of the driveby pics I took of my brothers. They're ALL smiling.

so you dont have to have any surten typ of car just a lincoln or any kind of car ?
we do the entire road trip
can we just do part of it like say 3 days instead of 7 days
im not shure how the car will do going the entire way then having to come all the way back to cleveland where i live
if we have problems on the way with are cars are there ppl that help each other with the work to get it fixed ?
or do we just have to take it to a mechanic
how often do we stop do we just drive the whole way non stop each day ?
i am very intrested but wondering how mouch this trip would cost if i where to go the whole way how mouch would it cost in gas and hotels i think my contie gets 24 mpg
do we stay at any hotel we find or do we usly try and get a best rate and all stay at the same place ? just curiouse thanks
how many ppl might be comming
from the cleveland area also
if someone wants to take a ride with me if they dont have there own car that will make the trip if they pay there own way as for food and the share of the hotel room ill pay for the gas and my shar or the hotel and food just looking for someone to possibly help with the driving im good for about 3 to 4 houres at a time but i am animic so somtimes i need a break ?
so can this work out i hope so i was always looking for an excuss to take a road trip and consider them my motor i just put in the car only has like way under 100k
and the tranny is 46k right now i figur by next summer the tranny will have about 56k on it and the motor will still have under 100k and the breaks willbe new befor the trip the entire fron end and the suspension is new so that shouldnt be a problem i would love to take that trip just hope that it wont cost more than like 1500 to 2000 dollars what do you think ?

That's exactly what happened to me. Actually, my family thought I was nuts: I started a new job the week before this years Tour, and during the interview I cleared out a few days off so I could still go on the Tour. That's right, I took time off less than a week after starting a new job :)
And yes, I'll be taking a week off this year too!
SweetRossLg, even if you can't come along you should come out and see us at the beginning of the tour. Trust me, it's well worth it. I had the fortune of the Tour stopping a few miles from my house this year, and it's the coolest thing in the world to have it so close.

i got the rack and pinion power steering and all the pumps and the entire front end is under warranty just had it rebuils

TheSweetRossLg,
In a nutshell, the cost depends on you. Sharing a cheap motel with someone drops the price. Eating cheap drops the price. You can count on 250-350 miles a day, depending on the route.
Good call on spending money on it between now and then. AND I suggest about a month out you come up with some day trip that puts a couple hundred (or more) miles on it. Long trips have a way of exposing gremlins that the daily short hops hide.

since i got here back i drove to columbus and back wich is 300 miles rolund trip
next month on my birthday im going to washingtion Dc that about 500 or so miles each way
i go to columbus ones a month so im alwasy doing that and i always drive around 2000 miles or more each month
you say between 250-350 miles each day
from AR back to cleveland how many miles you think it would be is it gona be over 1500 each way
well i just did the math 250-350 miles each day so i figured 300 miles each day just to figute it out and then say having to do the same thing on the way back just drive 600 or 800 miles each day and make it back in 2 to 3 days the gas will cost between 455 and 500 and if i get a hotel room around 79.00 a night plus tax i can get good rates at shertons and and starwood propertys but also would like to know who from here is going and maybe we could split the hotel room if i split a rooms iwth someone then i could probly get away with 450 for the rooms for 7 nights and that includes the extra rooms for the other 2 night if i have to pay for my own room im looking at around 600 probly so that 1055 right there and then another 350 for food is like or 400 for food is like 1500 and then 200 for extra spending money so im at 1700 wow that cool i was planing on spending like 2000 to go to florida for the a week in december and that was gona cost like 2000 or 2200 for the week

The PT is lots of fun, but it does create the world's longest traffic jamb! We sat in a big one in Bloomsburg, PA and this one at the PA NJ border.
BTW, there are tons of people that are more than happy to help you when needed.
