Can anyone suggest a good quality shock for my 78 mark V? So far Monroe looks like the one. I also have been looking into KYB gr2 shocks. I'm looking for near original equipment type shock, nothing for towing or raising the rear. Ride and comfort is a must. Thanks in advance, Gary Chesapeake, Va.

The GR2 will be a little firmer. The closest to OEM will be the Monroe. I have Tokico shocks on our Mark V, the ride is still plush but it is pretty tight in corners.

I have Monroe Sensa-tracs on my Mark 7 with coils. I tried the KYB's and found them really rough.

Is Motorcraft still available? You can't get any closer to OE specs than that. If not, the standard Gabriel/Monroe will probably be close.

Gabriel doesn't have a good reputation IIRC. Personally, I have never used them though.

Thanks for all your input. It looks like the Monroes win. As soon as my broken ankle heals I'll be shock buying. Happy holiday and thanks much, Gary Serra
