I recently added a GREAT 1988 TC Sig to my Lincoln collection but am having a problem with the door locks. They will unlock (power) ok via door switch or keypad but will not lock. I can hear the relay (behind glovebox) clicking when I try to attemp the un-lock. I looked at the relay but there are a TON of connections to it. Question: Does anyone know if that relay operates other things than the door locks and where i can find a wiring diagram for that year (1988).

I have same issue. will unlock, but not relock. yes the relay is up under the glove box. i even bought the relay from Ford/Lincoln dealer but never installed. Dont have the part number with me. My understanding is that there is one relay for locking and 1 for unlocking. I got under the dash one day but something came up and I didnt get to unplugging the realy or changing it even though I did locate it.
Derrick, on line here, provided a very good wiring diagram.
Hopefully Derrick will read this and post the diagram again....or you can look to previous posts, about 4 months ago, and find mine which asked about the ame problem. i think it was listed as "power door lock" or something to that effect. May be easy to just look up "all" threads posted by me?
Hope this helps some..

I don't think I'll ever touch that relay. It operates EVERYTHING. Theres a reason it has so many wires running to it. It has to do with that keypad, the locks, and the lights... and who knows what else.

Hi Chevdually
Check out the "Search" function dude it works quite well ;)
In the meantime check out This thread (http://www.lincolnsonline.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43844) for some power door lock wiring information.

Yup, that thread has the images and wiring diagrams you need. The relays aren't scary. The only part up inside there with a ton of wiring is the keyless entry module. That has a ginormous plug. The relay is nothing to fear.
