hey i was wondering if it is a good idea to just add a 12inch sub and amp too the current unit on my 99 cartier? i just want to add some serious thump. i want to keep everything else if possible. what kind of speaker and sub would pound in my trunk?

You might want to try replacing the stock driver in the stock sub enclosure. We did that to our old Aviator's sub and it made a HUGE difference. It was worth it to keep the stock enclosure for space efficiency too.

Replace it with a JL Audio 0w10 (or similar baseline driver) and you'll notice a big difference. Its been done before on a Town Car, search here and in the Audio Forum.
