So the Ford Five Hundred is now the Ford Taurus. The Ford Freestyle is now the Ford Taurus X.
Even the Mercury Montego is the Mercury Sable.
Shouldn't the MKS now be called the....wait for it...

Hi Pro
....and soil the Continental name, no way!!
Continentals should be 20 feet long wiegh 3 tons and be powered by 400plus cubic inches if they are going to revive the name :)

At least the name would be back - and heck, you know how easy it is to find spare parts for my car?! With all those Tauri rotting in junkyard I've got it made for tnext 20 years.

Nope, that's what the Town Car is for.
I'm down for an AWD, twin turbo Conti with twice as many forward gears--and more horses than your Conti has cubic inches--as the old school Contis.

Only to have them change the name again to......The Ford Switchback or something retarded like that.

No, the Continental name is better than the crap Ford has been making. Hah.

The Conti shouldn't be anything but a large, RWD V8 sedan. No FWD, AWD V6 nonsense. Give it the technological edge over the TC like before and it will work. Make it good enough to beat M-B and BMW and we'll really see Lincoln revive.

Well who knows, maybe Ford is listening and we'll get the Conti back.

This coming from the guy who even considered buying a last-gen Chrysler Imperial?
Sorry, I kid because I love. :)

I have no problem with the Continental name being used on this car. It's better than the stupid alphabet soup names they've got going on right now.

Hehe, true. But remember, a Chrysler isn't a Lincoln. :D Also, If I found an older RWD Imperial, I'd grab it. Except the Sinatra editions, I don't care much for his music.

I believe that the Continental name is the most iconic in the Lincoln line. The name is of HUGE value. I think that the new alphabet soup is dumb, and a giant marketing blunder.......
I'm not sure the MKS is the best candidate for the Continental name. I would love to see the name come back.... I'm tempted to agree that it should be a RWD version.
I was looking through the March Motor Trend (yea, but it was the only car mag in the store).... All the competition is looking at 300+ HP. Most are RWD or AWD that is RWD biased.
I think the Continental, Town Car, and the Mark series are all valuable as iconic brands. Lincoln had something Lexus didn't, a legacy of luxury to point to...... Play off the value of this!!!

Definitely agree there. Axing the traditional names on the lincs was like the Ford F(insert name that starts with F) deal. I like my Lincolns traditional please.

anything to get rid of the Alphabetized poo that they have been doing... i mean come on.... you can't beat the old names like the Mustang... or the Comero... or Galaxy.... or Charger... or anything like that.... they produce names that last threw the years.... anything like that... it produces feelings towards a car...... when it has a name..... not this stupid numbers and letters crap..... who here when they hear MKZ really thinks.... hey thats a car... sorry... i totally agree with you guys.......

Really... What's the new Camaro going to be called? The C28? Or maybe they'll just name it Z28. Actually.. That wouldn't be THAT bad. But what for the Mustang? The MXX? Heh. No thanks.. I don't think it would hurt to call the MKS "Continental". Would that be so bad? I mean, they gave it a shot with the Zephyr. And most people have no idea a Lincoln Zephyr ever existed past a couple of years ago.. I bet a new Lincoln Continental would sell very well...

exactly;) ...i mean look at GM for example...they brought back GTO, sure they just pasted the name on an Australian car, but it still sold/sells... they have the right idea... GTO, Camaro, Impala, Monte Carlo...all the names that got them today. Dodge caught on too with Charger, and Challenger, and to a far lesser extent Avenger.:D

Hehe, if I get the garage space, I plan to buy another old Fox Conti (another '83 if I can) and see if I can rustle up an old Versailles, because I like oddball cars that are cheap! :D
