last week i noticed a strange noise coming from my 2000 Lincoln town car , it sounds like a wheel bearing or wheel hub, what would be the proper procedure to test , and locate what bearing it is, and if someone can explain in detail what tools are needed for replacing and how to complete this job...
Thanks in advance...

Hi Jiggly
Welcome dude :cheer:
If you drive down a quiet stretch of road at say 30 - 40mph and gently sway the car from left to right when the bad bearing is loaded you will here a rumbling noise when it is unloaded the noise will stop.
So if you sway right and get the noise it is a left bearing, if you sway left and get the noise it is a right bearing.
Determining whether it is front or rear can be a bit more tricky, sometimes by jacking up the front wheels and spinning them by hand you can hear a bad bearing, you will not hear a bad rear bearing by doing this.
Front wheel bearings are easy to change you just need to pull the brake caliper, rotor and hub assembly, rear bearings are a lot more involved as you have to pull the axle shafts.
