Wow, sounds great! Nobody's done it yet, but we all know it can be done.

If you haven't seen this yet, check it: http://www.lincolnsonline.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43251

The stroker kit, ported heads (maybe milled down to 10:1 compression if no supercharging) ported intake, V6 Mustang headers and a full 2.5" exhaust would be sweet.

I haven't checked around, but the later model 3.8L heads (1996-up) might have a lot nicer combustion chamber...since you're going to all this trouble, ya know. Check its chamber and intake ports. I think it might really be worth it.

ya there will be no supercharging..we chose to do this for our schooling..its kinda a homeework assigment..extra credit ya know but ya pro-five.you got that stuff down..for sure headers were thinking of a 2" exhaust he dont want it too loud but were gonna try to get a STRAIGHT line exhaust from headers straight back...also we had planned to get it to 10:1 compression...aslo were thinking about putting a "better" tranny cooler just because of the more HP. i know most but not all info on these stroker kits!!

I would get a Jasper Tranny, as well as the cooler. You're asking for trouble using the stock transmission.

get a good aftermarket cooler and the jasper, at the power gain you're talking, you'll probabily destroy the stock trans in about 10 minutes. thats the reason these cars have <160hp stock. its about the limit on the trans for reliability.

You're on the right track. Headers, ported heads, strong tranny, big tranny cooler are all needed. Dusty made the torque arm from a later model Conti work on these, which must help driveline strength a whole lot.

Considering the crazy number of blocks and heads made from the 3.8, I bet the later model heads are better for power. Maybe the guys at Morana Racing (that link I posted) can point you to the best set of heads for your shortblock.

Where did you get the stroker kit if you don't mind me asking? Also, what kind of rods/pistons are they?

Also, are you anywhere near Roanoke, Virginia? :leer:
