My buddy has a 99 cartier with 37k, his engine light came on and he took it to get read and it said only two sensors were working and it was running lean... how many 02 sensors does this carf have and what does it mean when it says its running lean? thanks

It has 4, the downstream ones only throw catalyst inefficiency codes though. If both banks are lean, it is most always a vacuum leak.

well my friend thinks he has found out what made the check engine light come on., he has a crack in his intake manifold. this is insane he has only 38 k on his 98 cartier and this lame part that the genius engineers at for decided to use is failing. im kinda worried because iwe practically have the same vehicle. he has the 98 me the 99 both cartiers. i actually foung this car for him right after i purchased mine. i have already had the cowl vent problem and i have fixed it. im just worried about going on a trip and having a major problem via the intake rupturing/ he never would abuse his car so i know he didnt have her at wot. could the change of temperature and then the hot engine play a big part in this? should i just fix mine before it breaks or ride it out and gamble? i think the oem replacement is 888.00 and off brand replacement is 189.00 how much work is involved? im guessing about 5 hours.,

You should get a new intake too. Its just a bad design.

Wierd that those codes would be thrown for the manifold, he may have a compilation of issues. I would change yours to before it blows on you, it is not mileage related: http://www.autoclinix.com/Manifold.htm#GS
