I was under my car today and noticed i need a new exhaust pretty soon.
This cat-back kit for a '93-95 SHO should be a "direct bolt-on" for my '94 conti, right? Anyone tried it yet?

They also sell just the Intermediate Pipe and the split pipe separately, which is what i think i might do. Then get my own mufflers and some straight pipe, no resonator.

Actually I have.
the only thing that will be needed is a short extension due to the wheel base differance, a short extension will solve that problem.

well that's not too bad, i 'm going to replace the flex pipe too, so i can just get a lenght of exhaust pipe with that. How's it sound?

Aren't the wheelbases the same, just the overhang is longer?

you might want to keep that flexible coupling near the front. since the engine/tranny moves around a bit, and the rest of the exhaust system is relatively firmly mounted (not much motion at all), you need a spot to allow proper engine motion without messing up the rest of the exhaust system.

I am, i want to replace it with a new flex pipe, when that "mechanic"(and i use the term loosely) dropped the sub frame to replace the vss, I think he overstretched the flex pipe (I asked 3 times if we should take it off) and it sounds like its leaking a bit. I just meant I'd grab both that and a piece of pipe at the parts store, while i'm in the exhaust aisle anyway.

ok, thought you were gonna replace it with solid.

dropping the sub frame to change the vss.. well I think thats the way the 'book' says to do it. but Fordace's method works real good too (take right front tire off, rear motor mount and attack it from there).

but i would think the 'book' also says to detach the flex pipe or a forward-most exhaust hanger or two first as well, lol. That method sounds a lot easier next time (hopefully there isn't one) i'll need to try that. his method you don't need a lift right? just jack stands, and a floor jack( or my neighbor's novel approach, a heavy duty, high lift pallet jack he got free from somewhere to lift one end of the vehicle at a time.)

Awesome...looks like a nice upgrade. Tell us what the pipes look like (size, bends) compared to the stock stuff.

Ever thought about putting 3.8L Mustang headers on at the same time? I'm just sayin....:gears:

On the VSS swap (using fordace's method), I had a jackstand and a floor jack with a block of wood. its definatly easier if you got long skinny arms, but doable.

I swapped a 92 sho kit on, everything behind the flex pipe.

It fits with NO MODIFICATIONS, but is a very tight fit, requiring the holders to be pulled back, but still mounts in them.

It is also tight near the fuel tank and rubs if it shifts wrong, otherwise looks great!

106" Taurus
It is in the rear door right in front of the wheel well, that is why the added piece if glass in the rear doors.
The front door is same length and rear door is stretched for leg room.
and yes slightly more overhang on rear. I never measured but my neighbor owns one and just looking at it I'd say 1"/1-1/2" more overhang.
