It started raining today three minutes after I finished washing my towncar. Turned the wipers on and hear a loud crawl from the wiper motor. I stoped at a Ford Dealer and a Lincoln dealer and the both said they had never heard anything jusy like that but both dealers were sure the wiper motor was about to quite working. Both said a new motor was $135.00 and about one hour or so to change.

Towncar has 24,000 miles and wiper motor has been very quiet untill today. Any thoughts or help about motor and how hard is it to change.

Thanks, Dick

The motor is real easy to change, you remove the wipers, the black trim under them, then unbolt the black tray (with the wiper/motor assembly, about 5 bolts) from the car and disconnect the square wiring plug. With the tray out, the motor is real easy to get to.

Pretty shocked this happened to ya, but low mile cars (that don't get a lot of exercise) do have strange problems normal cars don't. :(

a local parts store (Autozone) should have the motor for about $60

Maybe take the cover of and watch the linkage first, it may only be binding up and popping, although that is unheard of as of yet.
