When you find out, you can let me know!

Mine are starting to look a little funny on my drivers side. My passenger side is okay until half way around the rear bumper and back to the drivers side. Funny how one side is okay and they other is not. I tried everything last summer to get rid of that dull dirty look. To me it looks like there is a plastic coating of some sort over that alumium strip. It almost seems like water and weather gets behind the plastic coating or the plastic coating seperates from the alumium and that's what makes it look so badly leaving you helpless. You can try everything on the planet and nothing will help. If anything, I think by trying to remedy the problem, it might make it worse!

The bumper strips? You have to buy new ones from rockauto.com, they get destroyed unrepairable over the years, except for the lower rear bumper strip. And wow do they look sharp with new bumper strips!

Nah, I think he means the rocker panel moulding.

I've had the best luck cleaning those little runs with....believe it or not......Liquid Wrench sprayed on a cloth, and hard rubbing.

Mother's Aluminum Polish and after that use Mother's Detailing Spray. A tip for you: If you polish the strips under the doors and you have a black residue on the rag, it's cool...that's the polish taking off the oxidation. If you don't see any black residue, S T O P and just use a mild, mild abrasive like Dupont/Turtle Wax white polishing compound Then detail spray. No residue means the strips were clearcoated.

i will try that. it looks like "runs" or "drips" like a tarnish color. may just check to see how much more trip would cost. thanks!

carfull sounds to me like they are vinal or plastic chrome and not the true stanless rocker panels.
