Just bought a MXZ today. It should be here next week.
Got a Sage w/Med Stone. The only options I got were the Heated/Cooled seats and the Navigation. We tested the TSX. More advanced electronics (voice recognition)and it had a sunroof, neither one of which I couldn't live without. Trading a 2006 Solara convertible. Hope this is as good a car as everyone claims.
BTW, does anyone have any insight into the molded splash guards and the cargo net that are advertised in the LM accessories catalog?
Are the splash guards formed or flat? Does the net mount to existing screw holes or do you have to drill? Any help would be appreciated.::)

Welcome and congrats....I don't have splash guards on my Zephyr, nothing really splashes up, IMO dont really need them.

The splash guards usually use the existing screw holes and hardware. The net will probably need a couple holes drilled into the sheetmetal for the anchors, don't know for sure since I don't own one. :)
Congrats! I like the stone interior with the ebony wood. You ordered two of the best options, I'm sure you'll love it.
Is it FWD or AWD?

We really don't need AWD here in Williamsburg. As for the options, the only one we wanted was the Navigation system. The vehicle the dealer found happened to have the cooled seats. The color combo was my wife's choice. I liked the sand interior with the Sage. However, a) it is her car and b) A happy wife is a happy life:)
I thought the TSX was a technically better car. However, it could take years to figure out all the different combinations that you could come up with with all the functions. Plus, the last 5 cars we have owned have had a sunroof. The only time we ever used it was to vent the car when it was parked in the sun.
When we drove the Z, we had moved it about 100' to the end of the dealership driveway and we knew that this was the car for her. The TSX was ok, but a little buzzy and the ride was a little stiffer. I am looking forward to driving/riding in the new car.
I am debating whether to look for a set of the factory chrome rims or just leave the machined rims on. I have an 05 Corvette convertible with the polished rims and they have fogged the clear coat. The chrome rims appear to stay shiny much longer. Any opinions??

Throws some 20's on it... :)

I am a firm believer in if it doesn't come from the factory, it doesn't go on my car.
As an engineer by trade, I have to chuckle when I see some of the wheel/tire combos on vehicles today. The stress levels on the wheel bearings and axles has to be outside the design for some of them.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

The polished rims look much better than the machined ones, but I can only imagine what they cost from the dealer, that was the only option I "had" to have. Anything over a 17 inch rim would look like crap IMO.

Yeah I would go for the chrome wheels, but only if you get a good deal on eBay.
The OEM chrome plating is far from perfect, older Lincolns (1990s) have peeling and fogging problems. But if you don't plan on keeping the car past 5 years, it shouldn't be a problem.

Welcome former import buyer, well, at least you had/have a Vette. MKZ should be a great car, good luck with it!

We have always had luxury imports. Infiniti, Acura, etc.
When we moved here, from Trumbull, Ct., three years ago, I had a 2001 Mustang GT convertible and an Infiniti. My daily driver is an 05 Dodge Magnum. I had trouble spending over 30k for an American car. I am hoping between the Vette and the MKZ, they will restore my faith in the Big Three.

Considering the Ford Fusion (same car, same factory) is rated higher by Consumer Reports (or Consumers digest?) than its Accord and Camry counterparts, I'm pretty sure you're gonna like the MKZ. :)

Keep your eyes peeled…you usually can get a set of 4 for the price the dealer wants for one.

I got a brand new set of factory Town Car chrome wheels on eBay for less than the dealer wanted for one. Not to mention I sold my old wheels on eBay and came within $50 or so dollars of breaking even.

It sounds as if it were a nice car and I am sure you will enjoy it.
To anyone that reads this, yes I do stray from the Conti and Lounge forum once in a while.

I have them (molded). I posted pictures about a year ago. They might still be in archives. I had them painted to match my Zephyr. I think it is worth the protection. The matching paint should be standard.
Welcome to the fold. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.
There is lots of toys available that are not from Lincoln. I just got a rear spoiler. Some of the Mazda 6 suspension parts fit as well. I am considering putting a heavier sway bar in back.
Please check in frequently. I appricate every other MKZephyr owner we get!

Just picked up the molded splash guards from Lincoln. They now have MKZ molded into the two rear guards. I painted them with a plastic base primer and we are trying to locate a paint close to the color of Light Sage.
Also, I picked up a set of MKZ chrome new car takeoffs. If anybody is in need of a set of 07 MKZ wheels/tires with 300 miles on them, pm me.
Thanks. John
