All,
I have the service CD but I just cant figure out how to test these damned fuel injectors. It says disconnect the PCM and connect a breakout box and hook up a test light between the injector test plug (????) and pin 71 on the PCM and see if it glows. Simple enough but where da hell is this test plug? I was thinking of just grounding one end of the test bulb, then connecting the other to the injector harness and seeing if it glows while the car is running but I want to make sure I wont foul up my PCM by doing that.

Anyone have any hints???

Just check for blinking to ground while running to test that it's getting a signal to fire and pull the connector just like you would a spark plug wire and see if it starts to miss.

Yea I would listen for the clicking with a stick as well. You can check the resistance in addition to the light blinking. They usually gum up and need to be professionally cleaned before they crap out. Coil packs are 15x more likely to go first and cause bucking issues of course.

I tested mine by doing whats called a balance test. Its a little module looking thing that hooks up to each injector and it gives it a pulse. At the same time you're supposed to have a fuel pressure gauge installed at the shraeder valve to see if each injector is letting in the same amount of fuel.

Question for everyone: do these EEC-V Fords have a cylinder balance test (via fuel injectors) like the older EEC-IV systems???
