Here's the problem; I am only getting spark right before the starter engages and right after it disengages. I have replaced/tested the ignition coil, ignition control module, distributer, ignition switch... I think thats all. The only other possibility I have heard about is the ignition resistor, which I have been unable to locate, and am not even sure if it has one? Any help would be appreciated

Check the wire to the I terminal on the starter relay, and trace it to where it should tie to the ignition coil. If you don't have a proper connection there, you'll get exactly what you have now. Verify with a test light that you have power at the I terminal while someone cranks the car. If the resistor were bad, you should have the opposite problem, spark while cranking but nothing when the key is in the 'run' position.

Hi,

I had same kind of symptomsīlast summer with my 77 LTC. We tried to locate the problem several hourīs and finaly it was found. The ignitionbox, placed on top of the inner fender, driverīs side.

Yup! one of three things.

1. Ignition side of starter solenoid is bad.
This gives more power to the coil during start up.

2. Wire between the solenoid and the coil is bad.
This could be a Fusible link, or a Resister wire if applicable.

3. Ignition control box mounted on the fender.
This can be tested at most any parts store.

Well, finally got it back on the road... Ended up being the pick-up in the distributor.
