Hi Guys
As I suspect most of you know by now there is a recall to replace the speed control deactivation switch and fit a fusible link on 1992 - 1997 Town Cars due to a possibility of the switch shorting out and starting a fire, this can happen even with the engine switched off and the car parked in your garage.
Here is a picture of the new style switch with a replacement connector harness, this is not the fusible link

If you are uncertain whether your switch has been replaced it would be a good idea to call the dealer and arrange to have the switch checked/replaced, in the meantime the switch can be disconnected.
Ford may carry out these repairs free of charge.
The fusible link part number is; 4W1Z-14A411-BC. Please check this number with the dealer before ordering and you may have to buy the switch repair kit XW7Z-9F924-BA to be able to fit the fusible link.
Pictured below is the fusible link.
