Hey all,
I'm from Louisiana, but am visiting relatives in California.
T
In Louisiana, we have NO big ol' Lincs in the wrecking yards because:
#1 they're not on the road anymore at all, and:
#2, any cars from the late '70s on back with tough metal get crushed immediately and sold for the scrap value of the metal. No Pick-A-Parts. Instant melt-down.
I bought my silver '78 Continental Town Car 4-dr in CA and drove to La. in May. (Gas cost almost as much as the purchase price!)
Am in need of an IMMEDIATE answer, should any of y'all have one!
My hood is rusted out bad. The lower metal layer is just gone from exposure to salt air. Just found a pristine hood at Pick-a-Part today! Have only one friend out here with a truck, and a Tacoma at that. He said to call him at 10:30 am PST tomorrow and he'll help me with it BUT:
Can anyone answer: Will the hood from a '79 Continental Town Coupe (NOT a Mark V) fit a '78 Continental 4-door Town Car?
Sure looks the same to me from the dashboard forward!
The alternative is to ask my elderly aunt to go out in 97-degree, high-humidity hell where my car is parked in south Louisiana and ask her to tape meaure the dimensions. Maybe the hinge location could be a dealbreaker? The '79 Conti 2-dr Town Coupe and '78 4-dr Town Car sure do look the same to me from dashboard forward....
Any and all help appreciated... Weds. is the only day my friend has off, then I fly back to Lincolnless Louisiana. I bet that hood weighs more than my old Accord,,,,,,,,,,,,
The question then is can a Tacoma even handle the hood from one of these beasts! LOL (we'll make it work!)
Thanks in advance,
Steve
