Hello There!!!

My mother owns a 1996 Lincoln Towncar Executive Edition. Recently, she had to replace a dead battery. All of a sudden the radio stopped working. Does the radio have to be reset after installing a new battery? The radio sometimes powers on, but all you hear is static. Also, the digital display sometimes comes on and sometimes it doesn't.

Thanks for any help!!!

You do not need to reset the radio after a battery swap, just your presets. It sound like your Head Unit is gone or you have a loose connection somewhere.

Strange coincidence, but its a bad radio. It can be rebuilt for about $100 (stereo shop) or just buy something else for it. :)

You can buy another OEM radio for less than $50, They pull out with a $5 tool from the auto store. You can be in and out in ten minutes and $55.

Odds are its also gonna crap out in a few months, unless its been rebuilt.
