aviator turn signals

I have an 04 aviator. The turn signal starting working slowly and then sometimes not at all. In past vehicles this was usually a flasher that needs replacement. Is this true in this case as well? I can't seem to find the flasher although I can hear it. Could it be a signal relay? What the symptoms of a malfunctioning relay? Thanks for the help.

the relay should be under the left hand cowl by your left foot, you'll have to remove the trim. There are no known issues with this concern, sorry.

Thanks, I have since learned that this vehicle has no traditional flasher so the relay appears to be the culprit.I'll post the results. Thanks again.

a dirty multifunction switch may give you the same symptom....
