Hello everyone,

Does anyone know how to tighten up the steering colum shifter. Recently I have noticed that there is alittle too much play when I shift from park to drive. Any sudgestions would be appreciated. 1992 towncar executive

Or better yet: actual torx heads... There have been several posts with this and other pictures in the past... You can see where mine was starting to come loose.

I am having the same problem but I have a 96. Does this still look the same? I remember the shifter being a cable.

The day after I posted that message. I went to the store with my family and the shifter stick dropped and then I only had neutral and forward. I had to go right to the mechanics shop because I needed the car. Don't wait on this repair.

Just had to do this same thing to my 93 TC. It suddenly
started to get sloppy feeling and within a week it felt
like it was about to fall out. Stopped by my mechanic's
shop and had hom tighten them. Took him about 15 min.
everything is nice and crisp feeling now and the indicator
tells me what gear I am in correctly now. DONT WAIT,
get it fixed or get stranded somewhere. This is a classic
problem in this series of cars. Phrawg
