I heard the 2009 F-150 Platinum edition will take its place. Lets hope this isn't a trend…I could just see them dropping Lincoln entirely and making it a package such as Eddie Bauer on all Fords.

Ford dealers never wanted Lincoln to get the LT. And since it never sold well...
There's no plan to dump Lincoln (Mercury is up in the air) so I wouldn't worry about that. The LT was just a bad idea.

Lincoln is 0 for 2 in the pickup truck market. I'm really not surprised.
If they really wanted to release the LT, they should have waited until the NEW F-Series platform comes out soon. The 5.4 300hp engine just doesn't cut it now. With the new engine choices set to come out, Lincoln could've tinkered with those options and come out with a more formidable competitor to the Sierra Denali and possibly the Caddy EXT.

What I find odd is that Lincoln sales are not well all over the US but where I live you can not drive two blocks without seeing one or more at any given time of the day.
As the story that AZLincolnMercury posted they are big with the wealthy farmers
As far as LT's go I can think of at least a minimum of 20 floating around this small town of 19k people, this dose not include Farmers if I tossed them in I'd up it to around 38-40 Trucks and untold TCs and Zephyers
The Lincoln stealership dose well here.

The LT is pretty common in Houston too...but I know its a limited potential vehicle with poor overall sales.
And of course Ford dealers don't like Lincoln getting a piece of the F150's pie...even if its a small piece.

You remember when you couldn't drive a block without seeing a Explorer?
Hell, just on my block there were 5 Explorers including my own. I now have the only one on the block….and I wouldn't be surprised if I have the only one in the entire neighborhood.
Nowadays I rarely ever see them around town. Same goes for the Expedition and Mountaineer. I figure it's just a matter of time before the mighty F-150 follows.
I know Truck/SUV sales are down across the board…but at the same time I still see tons of brand new Escalades, Silverados, Tahoes etc. Especially after General Motors recent redesign…
So let see..they lost the car/sedan market to the imports decades ago, and now it seems their only profitable lifeline is fading away.

And they are discounting the heck out of them to keep Toyota out...Toyota started a truck price war (just like the airlines) and its gonna have the same effect: Detroit's gonna get screwed.
Toyota can afford the price war for a while, they might win.

Way back when Japanese were getting into cars U.S helpers told them to build
state of the art plants. They did. US didnt practice what they preached and
didnt up date plants and Japan gained an edge,
Now in a global economy everybody wants to build cars. Survival of the fittest will apply. As automaker jobs diminish people will take their nest egg and open
shops go to school and become teachers and nurses etc and get paid to do it.
The government is still gonna get its cut Via tariffs off each car or Foreign
car Makers will be building more plants here creating other jobs.
Like when crysler was just bought new company didnt want to create ill will with emplyees so it didnt get real tough at contract time.
Should say the Chinese build a plant here although wages might not be as high as now Automakers will still be at the upper side of the food chain. They wouldnt want the American market they about to enter to boycott before it has begun by squeezing the American people. Might anger their own work force when they figure out that.. "They get paid what?"
Chinese may be building cars for peanuts but we wont be importing people for the nursing and teaching jobs.
Americans are resourceful and will be just fine. There will be some adjustments for sure.
Once the car jobs are gone......
Detroit should just build a giant multi level prison and take the garbage from everywhere. Cut rate to all states. When you come to Detroit you do the whole time. No early release. We alreaedy get refuse from all over.
Make crime pay for the good guys. Give them a beautiful skyline view so
when they look out it kills them to be in there. We have an old train station
that they were going to renovate for police complex. A beautiful 80
story super prison coming right out of it would be perfect.
People could hold on to money a little more when they didnt have to shell out 300 bucks for something that got riped of and sold for 10 cents on the dollar.
Prosecutor would not have to deal. Plead out and we wont put you in the real nasty section of the prison
If it dropped my property taxes and got me free water Id be all for it.
Good Luck
