I'm just kidding...its not here yet.
But I'm here at the autoshow where the Lincoln MKT will be unveiled. It is a reskinned version of the Ford Flex 6-7 passenger CUV/SUV/Minivan thingie. I'm a little concerned about a Lincoln minivan, so maybe this picture is the best one you'll see.
More to come. :)

Honestly I don't know what to expect but it isn't much. Just curious though, what camera do you use?

That's the media release. There's a pic there. You'll get more this afternoon when I have a free moment from the show.
I am using an old mediocre Olympus camera. My cohort has a sweet SLR and our upcoming Lincoln gallery will have his handiwork.

As an unconventional surprise, designers incorporated a bustle-back design into the concept.
This should be interesting . . .

It is. Of course, a concept car is made to look awesome, who knows what the production model looks like. The concept is a FOUR PASSENGER sedan, with four buckets. The production car is 99% likely to be a 6-7 passenger configuration like the Ford Flex. It won't look nearly as sexy with a third row. (probably)
Its a decent looking concept car, for another nerdy station wagon on stilts. I still can't believe people buy these things, but the MKT has a shot at looking good. Whether or not it sells is another question.
Attached is a shot of the scene of the crime. Beauty shots aren't possible in this cluster. :)

You mean when you scream out "hey, LincolnsOnLine is here!", people don't get out of the way for your photos??? :D

You know, I really have a hard time adjusting to all of this...I'm at the age where these should look like the coolest things on the road, I imagine. And I really have a hard time adjusting to the new body styles of these newer cars. I liked the way cars used to be designed. I mean even as late at 1997, just about everyone could add flair to their cars and still make it look like a car. Not a rocketship or spacemobile you would see in Star Trek :D I guess it will still take some getting used to, however, I gladly welcome the new line of Lincolns, I'm personally rather anxious to se what the new Town Car will look like:cool:

Screaming about LoL should accomplish about zero with those overpaid suits. :)

Take your vision of death, and apply it to the Town Car. Cause its done come 2009 and it ain't ever gonna come back.

Ahhh, I'm so glad the bloggers post the PR pictures so I don't have to. Thanks Joe. :)
Being the lone reporter for LoL (and one of two for that other website I don't normally discuss) means I don't have time to run up and down to the media room and post what Ford wants us to post.

I like the side profile. Especially the step-up on the rear door. Gives it a touch of 60s Continental.

There's something about the propotions that seem a little odd to me. Firstly, the bustleback is a nice touch but still seems a little strange being there. Secondly the rear looks a little bloated or maybe it's just me.
What is it with these companies driving SUVs down our throats? Has this region of the world really relied on them this much where the SUV market is being cut into such thin slices that other segments get ignored? I find the whole thing pathetic and ridiculous. Come winter, I'd rather have a RWD car with snow tires than some jacked up wannabe 'sports car' with AWD and stock all season tires.
Will car documentaries 30 years from now look back at these years as being the "SUV craze" along side "Green craze" much as we look back at the 60s and 70s as being the "muscle car craze"?? Muscle cars at least have personalities. These glorified station wagons of various shapes and sizes offer utlity with each company offering their own fancy named safety features yada yada. If I want something with character, it wouldn't be an SUV.
But I digress and rant like a madman...:o
Back to the MKT: If it's luxurious and powerful then it's a Lincoln...:D

I actually think it's pretty damn cool, I was expecting a lame Flex rip-off, but it actually has unique sheet metal. It definitely has a very unique shape, I can't find anything I could compare it to, maybe a Chrysler Pacifica, Infinity Q35, Buick Enclave possibly?
Also, the split waterfall grill is definitely the new look of Lincoln, kinda how like Cadillac abandoned everything couple years ago and came out with the whole "sci-fi" look, not every body's gonna like it, but it's definitely the look they're going for.

I really like the split grill look. It's very unique. I don't think the Navi needs to get it but the cars look good with it. I don't particularly like the bustle back design but I do kinda dig wagons so I think I will fall for that part. As long as they have a wagon and sedan version both it should be a hot ticket vehicle. If they have the balls to make it run like the magnum with the hemi and not charge $70k for it they could have a winner. We all know how V-8 power and good gas mileage can co-exist so as long as they throw those elements into it too, i have high hopes for it.;)

Now you know Lincoln doesn't officially end production of anything historic without the Collector's (add word here) and requisite fanfare...lol. Surely there will be a tarted up Town Car to end the production.

Considering they killed the Designer Series and only make one Town Car (the Signature Limited) these days...I wouldn't hold my breath on that either. :)
