Just ordered a set of 4.30's for the Linc to start getting it ready again for the spring!
I'll be doing some trans mods and cooler to go with this, so hopefully it all goes well.
Just need to find a trac-lock carrier/housing now, and talk to someone about a chip for this to match the gears and I'm set!

Cool! What other mods you got? JMod, chip, and 4:30s in a GenI should make it one hell of a beast, but with headers & pipes on there and maybe a few other bolt ons you could have a scary car on your hands.

EDIT: see if you can get the chip flashed on a dyno instead of just an off-the-shelf deal. I think JP gained 12rwhp with a dyno tune and I'm aiming for one this spring.

Good man! 4.30s are the way to go in a Mark VIII!

Thanks guys, I hope it goes well.
I'm doing a Baumann kit with some other valve body upgrades, but no JMod.
I have a balanced one piece shaft sitting in my Escort waiting to go in it too.
I'd like to get a dyno tune, but I'm not confident on the abilities of anyone around here. It would be nice to bring it down to dyno. We will see...
I've done the cat-back on the car, so may finish it off with an x-pipe in place of the mid-cat this summer too. I don't think I'll mess with headers for now.

Hope you saved money for tires! ;)

Baumann shift kit and 4.30s ROCK! :D

What's your converter stall speed?

Baumann shift kit and 4.30s ROCK! :D

What's your converter stall speed?

Just got new tires/rims in the fall :)
I'm glad to hear someone likes the Baumann stuff, I've not heard alot about them with these trans other than literally a couple people, but they liked them. I've used their stuff before in other trans and liked it.
The stall is stock for now. I don't know how long the '94 trans will last, so will do the baumann kit, cooler, and a few other things in the valve body, but don't want to put alot into it as I know they aren't the best trans to start with...
There is only 62k miles on the car, so I hope I get some time out of it, but I will admit I'm not overly 'easy' on cars ;)
If it comes down to a new trans, I'd go with a newer updated one and probably ~3000k stall...

I picked up the 8.8 FRPP carrier today :)
Just need to organize the chip, waiting on a few more trans parts, and get the pumpkin pulled once it warms up a lil (it's -25*C with the windchill tonight, lol...) and take it down to the guy doing the gear install!

Dropped the pumpkin off today to have the new gears, track-lok, bearings etc installed :D
I ended up having to drop the back half of the exhaust just to get at one friggin bolt thou! It came apart pretty well, thanks in large part to having a pretty well rust free car :)
I ended up bringing it to Steeda in Milton to do the install. They quoted me a good price and I was happy with their answers etc to all my questions.
I'm still a bit worried about the balanced one piece shaft I have, but it had zero vibrations before, so I'm crossing my fingers and not spending anything more (lol...) till I get it in in case I need to order one.
I've been talking with Steeda too about tuning it, but not sure how well they know these cars. I'm a bit worried about some of their answers to my questions so probably will go with ? it looks like.

JP, do you mind if I PM you with a couple questions on the Baumann kit please?

My Linc is my daily driver though out the summer too. I don't do alot of highway driving and around here even the highway driving is stop and go through out most of the day!
I'm just making for a more fun summer car :)

Are the gears done yet? :D

The gears are installed, I'm just waiting till tomorrow I hope to reinstall the pumpkin in the car. Then I have to hook up the SpeedCal. It's been raining here off and on all week and I've been working nights, so not much time to work on it without pissing off the neighbours ;)
I'm still trying to figure out what to do for a chip too (whom to go with.)

I may put the front end in the air too this weekend and reinstall that Addco front bar that didn't fit, as I have a new one now that should :)
I still need to do my full spring tune-up and fluid cahnges too.

There's still to much snow here and the weather isn't the best to actually offically put it on the road yet. It's sitting in the driveway begging me to drive it everytime I walk by it :D

Pumpkin is back in and the SpeedCal is wired up. I haven't done any trans stuff yet. Need to take it out for a drive tomorrow to see how it runs so far. I think without a chip I'll have some wacky shift points, but I should be able to tell if there is any vibes etc :)

I took it out for an easy first drive today, the shifts are pretty good taking it easy so far even without a chip. The car definately feels 'lighter' and the speed ramps up more quickly. Without the OD on you can tell the rpms are up cruising around town, but they are not bad enough to worry about.
I did find out after 10 minutes that my right front brake caliper is sticking though :( I came to a stop and smoke started coming from the wheel well a bit. I limped it back home and pulled the brakes apart. The sliders are in perfect shape and move very easily, so I think the caliper itself might be sticking from sitting all winter. The piston seemed to press in though without to much trouble, so I hope its not somewhere else in the system...
