While I was driving along in city, I noticed my rear left wheel begining to wobble. It then pooped off, and rolled down pass my driver side door. It appeared that the wheel was not tight enough. The cosistent rubbing has worked 3 of the five bolts off the hub. The original aluminum rim, was very chewed up. This cause the bolts to file and dig themselves. So when I place some of them (bolts) had really worked themselves into the rim (space), thus causing the rim to develop, and having too much play

yes, thanks:)!It was a scary moment:eek:! I replaced the rim for the moment with a steel spare, until my extra aluminum wheel can be swapped over. The lugs are still holding very well, so I guess there was not any damaged at all other tan to the wheel. One crazy moment:o:mad:, a police car stood by until I could get the car off the ground and onto another tire.EEEEK you ok? i had that happen once before LOL I was getting a ride form a friend back to tulsa and on I-35 we were driving felt something and the right rear tire came off and rolled off in the ditch by the time we stopped the hub was on fire really weird .but that was 10 years ago so i dont remeber all the details hope everything is fixable

methinks you should invest in a torque wrench to make sure you get the lug nuts properly installed. I'd also suggest replacing any of the studs that got damaged, as well as the lug nuts just to be safe. Actually just replacing all 5 studs and nuts wouldn't be a bad idea anyway.

Thanks! Actually:o, I do own a torque wrench. I think that I will start keeping it in my trunk though. The rim got slightly damaged, in terms of the where the lugs come through the lug holes. I guess all that wobbling around caused a few of the holes on the rim to be a little wider now, thus causing the lugs to come loose and not be fully seated:eek:! I just swapped the rim out for another one. methinks you should invest in a torque wrench to make sure you get the lug nuts properly installed. I always get a little upset when I hear about wheels coming off a car. I witnessed an "Okie" who lost his wheel coming at me. Before the wheel got to me it hit a motorcyclist and put him on the ground, very badly hurt. The Okie's car had other wheels ready to fall off, but he simply took "extra" nuts from the remaining wheels to resecure his killer wheel.

Point...make sure your wheels are on tight with all the nuts before you kill somebody (or me). I suspect the "tire wrench / hub cap remover" that comes in the trunk is partly to blame; I carry an old fashioned 4 way wrench that provides plenty of leverage.
