Which Scanner? Any Recommendations?

Well I figure I better pick up a scanner before I go much further with this project vehicle... (been lucky so far but still gotta troubleshoot an abs light and airbag)I had one but it broke like 2 years ago. Can anyone reccomend a good one for my 97 mark viii? Something not toooo far expensive but a good one that works well for these vehicles. Also, any favorites for a tech book? Thanks in advance..:) :);)

Depnds on your future plans for the car, if your going to mod it in any way, you could always pick up a SCT XCal and kill two birds with one stone... It will allow you to change/calibrate stuff in the PCM and give you codes etc...

Parts stores like Autozone will scan it for free. Either you go there with the car or you can rent one.

Decent OBD II scanners can be bought for ~$100, you just need to look around...
