yeah my passanger seat's forward and back glide motor went out.. and from the looks of it.. it seems like that is a comon problem with these............ my question is... has any one ever heard of rebuilding the motors on those.. rather than buying a used one wich may go out as well??

I've seen it posted before. Most of the time it is the brushes in the motor(s) that gum up and a good cleaning and refurbishing is all that is needed. It's a might tedious process to undertake however.

yeah... i was kinda guessing that... but i kinda figured that if i was able to get them going again.. it wouldn't happen again rather if i got a used one.. that problem would arise again.....

i might take some time and just look the process over here in a while.... any tips???

is it the fore and aft movement of the seat that stopped cold or is it the seat doesn't glide when flipped but still works with the manual controls?

If your motor is shot, that's one thing. Keep in mind that there is a switch that activates the automatic movement when the seatback is pushed forward for access.

I had that happen on a Cougar in the driver's seat. The seat track itself is more the problem than the motor is. Try moving it all the way rearward, then go forward with it. Also, if there is a load present in the seat, that seemed to cause the jam when I had it. I tried to get the seat replaced under factory warranty back then, but every time they checked it, it was operating normally. Problem is, normally my behind was in the seat and the techs were testing it from an unloaded perspective when the car was in, lol.

Check the track meticulously for debris and re-lubricate it with some white grease and see what happens.
