Lamp, License Plate

Replacement

Town Car

Remove two screws retaining lamp assembly to rear bumper cover. Pull lamp assembly from bumper cover, grasp and twist socket one-eighth turn counterclockwise and remove socket from lamp housing.

There ya go :)

Its a PITA, after you remove the screws, you need to push from the back and wiggle to get the housing out.

yea... it's "tender" you will think there is nothing "solid"....

i did both of mine after an officer was kind enough to stop me to let me know that both of mine were out.

find some white LEDs to put in as a replacement... it has a different glow and they last almost forever. do a search on Ebay for the bulb type. example... LED 194 or like that. LEDs use lots less power so you arent causing as big of a draw on the system if you replace interior lights to get rid of power hungry incadescent

I tried to remove the screws on one today. By "tender" do you mean that the entire housing bends under the pressure of the screwdriver?
I thought for sure it was going to break. Can this thing hold up to the stress? Should I spray it with WD 40 before twisting to reduce the pressure required?

I just did mine, I took my big Craftsman screwdriver (5/8" x 14"??) anyhoo it looks like a small crowbar. Stuck it behind the housing through the bumper, then I could get enough torque on the screw. It only threads into a small spring steel clip mounted on the urethane bumper.
