HI EVERYONE, IT BEEN A LONG LONG TIME SINCE I CAME IN HERE, BEEN BUSY WORKING LIKE A CRAZY WOMAN AS USUAL

OK GUYS I HAVE A PROBLEM...
well today a mechanic "dianogistic" my car today, cause i wanted to know exactly what and why my engine light is still on(which is somewhat preventing me to want to get my inspection done- which is uehmm past due)

anyhow the things that came up on the dianogstic check

ERG valve has a leak
and the
upper manifold intake gasket (need set) how intensive is this work when installing these parts?

well not for nothing i got these parts orderd for an awsome price even with shipping!!! and euuhhm MY LOCAL LINCOLN MER FORD PARTS DEPT didnt have all the part and not for nothing i really didnt get a deal on any of the parts there compared to what i got from my guy somewheres else outta state(which im not saying just yet, but let me say it was absolutly half of what i was quoted at MY LOCAL PLACE-i literally fell outta my chair lol) i will share who i got the parts from but only one condition! hahaha

litterally i spent 2 hours researching and making phone calls for these parts..no joke.

now the thing is ,the other guy who scanned my car months ago said it was the o2 sensors that came up on his hand held scanner ..hmmm

which one should i rely on for telling the truth?
the diagnostic or the portable scanner?
do both mechines do same work and give same info..i want to know this so i dont get some b.s story so this guy can get a pay day if you know what i mean. i know when i had a 94 caddy eldo i was chaged 75(thats in patchogue) dont know if they up'd the charge for diognosticing cars.

and the labor to do it ..is a whoppin $650 to do including the inspection as well(and if i get the parts myself it's still up there in labor ;-(
...is this about right or am i getting ripped off?

hurry need responce by tomorrw ,so i can get my car ouuta there before the really hit me with the bill, i seriously think i need a honest good mechainc that will help me out and not burn me.. for that much i could get my other leaks taken care of. and for dianogstic hit with $95,but if they do the work the 95 would be subtracted from the labor.

another thing ,i am so messed up now ..im not even getting support from my other half here - which is kinda fked up-he says - "oh get rid of that shit and get another fkin car"...thats not the answer- right guys!!!
and let me say im not letting my car go to waste nor do i have the $ to go out n by another car which is ahellava lot more then just changing these parts. i had this car for over 5 yrs and love it to death ..regArdless of minor issues and common issues that go on with these cars.i seriously need some support here guys.... any helpers?
my inspection was due since jan 08 ( I KNOW I KNOW IM USUALLY GOOD WHEN IT COME TO MY STICKER ON MY WINDSHEILD,I GUESS THIS IS WHAT HAPPENDS WHEN LIFE ITSELF CONSTINALLY GRABS YOU BY THE THROAT ) and GUESS WHAT i can't even renew my reg just because of this inspection crap going on with nys . SO IM STUCK..REALLY STUCK- I HAVE NO SUPPORT.

let me say from previous postings of work that i have done TO MY CAR, HERE ON ON OTHER WEBSITES that were major i paid for ALL by myself and still is paying for PREVIOUSs work which came back not even a yr later(TRANNY LEAK RRRRRRRRR! ;(,im a serious lsc lover who needs a helpin hand to get my baby back to 100% ALONG LIKE THE REST OF YA'S.

well, depending on the codes you got, if they were lean 1 and lean 2, then I'd say intake o-rings should fix that if they are leaking. You said the other mechanic got O2 codes, so they will be set by lean condtions, PO171 and PO 174 are those codes I believe. Not sure how hard it is to do the job, I haven't done them on that engine......

it would help if you gave us the codes you got today

Head to the MechanX Files at cartalk.cars.com to find a mechanic. And yeah, like FordAce said, see if they'll give you the codes.

The diagnostic and hand held scanner do similar things (reading codes) but the guy who ran the diagnostic also likely did a more thorough inspection of the drivetrain. The scanner guy just plugged it in and read the codes, while the other guy actually looked under the hood :)

the intake work is almost all labor, they have to tear down the top of the engine to get it I think. I wish you well, that one's probably going to cost dearly.

I got a tip on here from another member that led to a company called Vintage Parts, Inc. Apparently they purchased many NOS parts after Ford obsoleted them. I was able to get a trunk lid harness from them. Next time you can't locate essential parts, give them a call: 877-846-8243. I actually made the purchase from Tasca Ford in Rhode Island, they subletted it to Vintage Parts. Tasca's contact is Dominic, 800-915-3141. Either way, they were great to me and the price is the same.

Thanks Guys So Much For Your Input.

Yes The Codes That Came Up Are The Po171(lean B1),po174(lean B2),po 1519(intake Manifold Ctrl),po0113(don't Know What That Is)

The Mechanic Said They Are All Related To Leaks Where You Have Them. He Said He Smoked My Engin E And Thats How He Found The Leaks Along With Scanning.

WELL I GOT ALL MY PARTS FOR UNDER $110.AND SHE WILL BE TAKEN TO THE SHOP TOMORROW FIRST THING.
