My father just bought a 98 Mark VIII LSC 2 weeks ago. We got it home, and just less than 1/2 mile from my house, it started having brake issues.
What we have going on is, when youre coming to a stop, the brake pedal starts pulsing, but not quickly like the wheel is locked up, and with every pulse, there is a metal to metal type sound. When you release the brakes, a loud pump kicks on, and pretty much vibrates the entire floor board. This pump will run anywhere from 10 seconds to probably a minute or two. Occasionally longer. When you apply pressure to the pedal, the pump will stop.
We have replaced the front hubs, checked the ABS sensors and they were clean and in good shape, replaced the rear rotors, but I didn't get under there to look at the rear ABS sensors.
There is no ABS light on the dash, and no other issues other than an air ride issue, which seems to be the vent.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys.
